Nice boa, where you going?

Recently, I have started questioning what my goals are with this blog. Am I even doing this right? I started this blog a couple of years ago merely because I just wanted to and felt like I had no hobbies. I shopped a lot but I guess that didn't quite count as a "hobby" and felt like maybe a blog was the best way to "hobbify" this non-hobby (Yes, I know I just said hobbify).

My approach to blogging has been quite lax to say the least. My day job goes far beyond the "day" and when it's hectic, the last thing I think about is going home to crop and post images so I can gain a follower or two.

My approach to taking the pictures is even more casual than posting. Taken on my iPhone (not even a 6! The horror!) typically just on my lunch break or after work and only if I can get a coworker available and willing to snap a few the same time that I'm available. It could be my naivety to the blogging world but I thought that that was just the way it goes. I was not aware of the pre-planned photo shoots and changing outfits in the car so they were all taken while your makeup and hair was still perfectly coiffed. Yes, you look great glitzed out in your boa..but where are you wearing that to?

I enjoy following bloggers for daily dressing inspiration and figuring out how to incorporate new ideas into dressing for real life. So here is me, in clothes that I actually wear all day. Am I doing this wrong?

So Fluffy

It only takes one item to go from "Ugh why is it so early and why am I awake" to "Yup, I'm ready world" in the morning when you're getting dressed. On this particular day, it was this vest. SO FLUFFY!

Dress - T by Alexander Wang
Boots - Call it Spring

Velvet Statement

Dress - Dynamite
Cape - Splurge Boutique (shop here)
Boots - Guess

Every girl should have a couple of items in her wardrobe that make a statement. Yes, basic pieces are an essential part of a wardrobe but let's face it, who actually wants to be basic? How many holiday parties have you gone to to find all the ladies wearing black dresses. Don't be a bore! Throw on a jewel tone cape over that LBD of yours! Or wear it to the office like I did over a tweed turtleneck dress.

Colour Combo: Pink and Forest Green

Coat - Express - shop similar here
Turtleneck - Old Navy - shop similar here
Skirt - Zara - shop here
Booties - Call It Spring - shop similar here
Handbag - Louis Vuitton
Sunglasses - Celine

Based on my last few posts, it is no secret that I am in love with pastel shades. Pairing pastels with more "Autumn-like" colours is a  great way to continue wearing the hues without feeling like you are committing some sort of fashion crime (which you're not, wear all white if that makes you happy!). Light pink and forest green is just one of those colour combinations that in theory may not be that common, but in reality..well I'm in love.

Next up on the docket? I'm thinking sky blue and burgundy!

Cat Eyed

Skirt - Banana Republic
Sweater - Opening Ceremony
Jacket - RW & Co.
Heels - Tory Burch
Sunglasses - Splurge Boutique here

A pair of sunglasses can really complete an outfit and give you a different persona. This outfit sans the sunnies is quite sweet, the pink, the bows, the sweater, it's like I'm a 12 year old on my way to read to the elderly. Add a pair of cat eye sunnies and now I'm Cruella Deville in search of a cigarette filter..and I'm into it.

Autumn Brights

Cape - Mango
Blouse - Banana Republic
Skirt - RW&CO
Heels - Aldo

Sometimes, a coffee chat turns into a mini photo shoot. Sometimes, you just can't control your hair in the wind. And sometimes, those both happen at the same time.

On another note, as Fall tends to be the season where fashion gets a little darker, I am struggling with letting go of bright hues. Do I really I have to dress in a certain colour palette because the temperatures have dropped? Shouldn't the concern just be with whether I'm warm enough?

What are your thoughts, friends?

Matrix meets Miami Vice

Vest - Forever 21
Jeans - Pseudio
Shoes - BCBG
Necklace - Splurge - here

One of the cons of such a short Summer season is that you don't always get to repeat-wear some items you were excited about. This ice blue vest was one of them. I felt pretty matrix-y while my vest tail slapped passerbys and so I am determined to not let the end of warmth stop be from channeling Keanu Reeves. I'm thinking turtleneck combo?

In other exciting news, this choker pearl combo is now on sale for only $16!

Multi-Purpose

Dress (worn as top) - Zara
Skirt - Club Monaco
Heels - L.K Bennett
Bracelet - Coach

Every girl has that too short, too tight dress hanging in their closet that was purchased in a "I'm gonna rule the world" whim. Then you realize you're 27 and if you can't wear it to work then it probably also won't go with your sweats which means it'll never get worn. That's when you know it's time to get creative and just throw on a skirt over that dress and call it a day!

What's even better? It's also a built in slip for that slightly sheer skirt. Wam bam thank you ma'am.

Gladia

Necklace - Tiffany & Co.
Top - Club Monaco
Pants - Club Monaco
Heels - Christian Louboutin

Sometimes you just need a little reminder that everything will be ok. And athough wrinkles worry me, I can't help but smile when I look down and see this bracelet. So while other people may opt for the "breathe" wrist tattoo, I'm more than happy with my Gladia bracelet :)
