Best Fashion Find with Ricki's

Cover up: c/o Ricki's - here // Dress: c/o Ricki's - here

Layering is not reserved for cooler temperatures, sometimes you just need a layer to add some dimension and interest to your outfit. So when Ricki's asked me to pick out a summer must-have, this short sleeve cover up was an easy pick.

Want to win a shopping spree to pick out your fave summer must-haves for you and your BFF? Well here is your chance! Follow @rickisfashion on Instagram and tag 3 of your friends in one of the contest posts before June 26th. Good luck!

1 Blazer 2 Looks

Blazer: c/o Ricki's - shop here // Scarf: Chermini - shop here

Versatility is an important aspect of your wardrobe. Not only is it better bank for your buck, but it's super boring to wear the same thing the same way all the time. So when Ricki's sent me this boyfriend blazer to style in two ways, I also took it as an opportunity to show the versatility of a silk scarf.

Little needs to be done to incorporate a blazer into work wear. A white blazer offers a good contrast over an otherwise all black look. Tying the silk scarf into a choker adds just enough visual interest.

The scrunched up sleeve style of this blazer lends itself well for a more casual look. Pair it with a graphic tee, distressed denim, and add some touches with a pile of rings and a scarf tied around your wrist.

Final Cut

Top: c/o Ricki's - here // Skirt: Forever 21 // Shoes: BCBG

How I spend the final vacation day is typically based on what outfit I have left that I haven't gotten a chance to wear yet. This cold shoulder tee from Ricki's resort collection and maxi skirt were basically calling for a long dinner with mountain views.

Smell ya, Muscat.

Ports and Prints

Top: Ricki's - here // Sunglasses: Quay

The boat is booked. Alarm clock set. Dolphin watching day is upon us! And let's face it, the vision of an instagram picture of a dolphin being dope in between mountains obvi crossed my mind. I was ready! That is until we went to the port and were told the trip was cancelled :( So instead we went back to the resort where I laid for hours on end BUT at least I got to do it in this pretty scarf print tank, which is now 20% off btw!

Kablam

Dress: American Apparel // Ruana: c/o Ricki's - here // Heels: BCBG // Hoops: Splurge Boutique

Spending my days by different bodies of water (tough life, I know) made me adopt an easier going outlook on night time dressing. The thought of my go-to combo of skinny jeans and a choker became daunting. This kimono-esque cover up was the perfect combination of “boho” and “glam”..yup, it’s pretty “blam”.

Best thing about this piece is that you could double it as a bathing suit cover up by day or to add a more relaxed detail to an LBD. Versatility AND under $30 – kaBLAM!

1 Top - 2 Looks

Versatile pieces are the building blocks of a great wardrobe. Versatile pieces on a budget are the building blocks of great common sense. This crochet tank is not only under $25 but its simplicity allows it to be dressed up or down. Here is my take on how a switch of 2 items can change up the whole vibe.

3 Items, 2 Minutes, 1 Instant Outfit

I'm a huge fan of streamlining. But sometimes, you are just too sleepy to lay out your outfit the night before your work day. This is why it's important to have some go-to pieces in your closet that you can grab and go faster than you can countdown from 3 (ok, maybe that's a bit too fast).

I have teamed up with Rickis to come up with my own instant outfit. Although I love experimenting with colours and pattern, you can never go wrong with an all black outfit especially when your outfit needs to take you from desk to dinner. Take off the cardigan to display the crochet shoulder pattern and you're instantly ready for wherever the night decides to take you.

Rickis now wants to give YOU your own instant outfit! Simply share your take on an instant outfit on Instagram including at least one item from Rickis and hashtag your post #instantOOTD and #loverickis for your chance to win!

Good luck!

Nice boa, where you going?

Recently, I have started questioning what my goals are with this blog. Am I even doing this right? I started this blog a couple of years ago merely because I just wanted to and felt like I had no hobbies. I shopped a lot but I guess that didn't quite count as a "hobby" and felt like maybe a blog was the best way to "hobbify" this non-hobby (Yes, I know I just said hobbify).

My approach to blogging has been quite lax to say the least. My day job goes far beyond the "day" and when it's hectic, the last thing I think about is going home to crop and post images so I can gain a follower or two.

My approach to taking the pictures is even more casual than posting. Taken on my iPhone (not even a 6! The horror!) typically just on my lunch break or after work and only if I can get a coworker available and willing to snap a few the same time that I'm available. It could be my naivety to the blogging world but I thought that that was just the way it goes. I was not aware of the pre-planned photo shoots and changing outfits in the car so they were all taken while your makeup and hair was still perfectly coiffed. Yes, you look great glitzed out in your boa..but where are you wearing that to?

I enjoy following bloggers for daily dressing inspiration and figuring out how to incorporate new ideas into dressing for real life. So here is me, in clothes that I actually wear all day. Am I doing this wrong?
