YYT: Signal Hill

Dress: Zara // Jacket: Zara // Handbag: Chloe // Boots: Aldo

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have noticed that I have been spending some time in St. John's, Newfoundland. So why not take the opportunity to do some shoots while I'm here. This is the first of a few posts that I did with Naomi Cousins. It was so fun working with her and I can't wait for another idea we have brewing!

I like to call this look "a modern day little house on the prairie". And if I look cold in here, it's because I was absolutely freezing.

Embellished Skirt

Coat: Express // Brooch: Chanel // Skirt: RW&CO // Boots: Call It Spring // Handbag: Michael Kors

This embellished skirt has been in my closet with the tags attached for over a year. I could never quite think of a way to wear it. The embellishments made me feel like it needed an equally dressy top. Fast forward a year and my basics this winter have been a cycle of turtlenecks and these boots. Then I had a eureka moment. Dress the damn skirt down Nadia GAWD.

2018 Guidelines

Coat: Forever 21 // Dress: The Shop by Splurge // Choker: The Shop by Splurge

This post is filled with irony, so get ready.

I won't bore you with my goals for the year because let's face it, who cares? However, I will leave you with these 3 guidelines that I hope to keep in mind this year:

1. Spend money on experiences and not things.

The irony here is that I just purchased a new Chloe bag..but I needed it, right? Although I love things, I am the first to admit that I buy things looking for instant happiness, which quickly fades the second I get home and I just leave the item in its shopping bag for weeks untouched sometimes. Experiences last a lifetime and although I try to convince myself that if I splurge on a Chanel bag that it will last a lifetime too, reality is that it just won't. (But I'll prob still get it at some point in my life, let's face it)

2. Check social media less.

The internet is a dark place you guys. No, I'm not quitting Instagram. This b loves an ootd. But I'm really trying to not check it all the time aka during work hours.

3. Today, not tomorrow. Today.

I've learned so many things through my years watching the Real Housewives of <insert any city here>. Like how to flip a table or how to smile when you just want to slap someone.. no wait, I was already good at that. But leave it to Erika Jayne to say something that really stuck. If you want to do something, do it today, not tomorrow. Yes, I realize the irony that I am posting the "classic new year post" at the end of the month but hey, a girl needs some time to get her thoughts straight.

Fanny

Blouse: Zara // Lipstick: Bite Beauty (Flambe) // Pants: Forever 21 // Earrings: Splurge Boutique // Fanny: Louis Vuitton

It was 2am and I was taking a social media break from packing for a business trip with a flight in just a few hours. Somehow amidst me being on the profile of someone who I can only assume now is a distant cousin of a friend of someone that I used to know's aunt, I stumbled across a picture of this fanny pack and had an "INEEDAT" moment. That's it. One word. Fast forward a few days and a package shows up about that post-midnight impulse buy. No regrets.

Back At It Again

Dress: Dynamite // Sunglasses: Rayban // Shoes: Valentino

Six months after my surgery, I am slowly re-training myself to wear heels. I can't exactly get my foot into all my heels anymore but if I'm going to be limited to wider straps and lower (for me) heels then they might as well be Valentino.

Best Fashion Find with Ricki's

Cover up: c/o Ricki's - here // Dress: c/o Ricki's - here

Layering is not reserved for cooler temperatures, sometimes you just need a layer to add some dimension and interest to your outfit. So when Ricki's asked me to pick out a summer must-have, this short sleeve cover up was an easy pick.

Want to win a shopping spree to pick out your fave summer must-haves for you and your BFF? Well here is your chance! Follow @rickisfashion on Instagram and tag 3 of your friends in one of the contest posts before June 26th. Good luck!

HS Studio's Detox Brunch

My Sundays are typically "me days". That involves very little communication to the outside world and mini-pamper session to prepare myself for the week ahead. But when I got the invite from HS Studio to attend their detox brunch, sacrificing the communication to the outside world for a real pamper sesh was an easy decision!

It started by getting a Kerastase clay treatment followed by a Clarisonic Purification System - yes, the Clarisonic we have always associated with skin care can now help your scalp. This new in-salon treatment allows for pore detoxification and micro-circulation activation. We were all then treated to a blow out. Anytime someone else tames the mane for me is a good day. I obviously needed to re-energize after all that hard work that I didn't do, and what better way to do that than by slamming down a breakfast burrito from Envie #BurritoAndBlow

The next stage of getting detoxed was testing out Dermalogica's new Stress Positive Eye Lift aimed at reducing visible signs of stress.

Did the detox work? Well I literally went into brunch with a cane and walked (I use this term very loosely) out.
